Straight answers on how we work, what our services cover, and what to expect — as a firm regulated by RICS.
It means our firm is registered with and regulated by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, and our work follows recognised professional standards and rules of conduct. For clients, RICS regulation brings independent oversight, defined competence and the client protections that regulation carries — including a formal complaints procedure and professional indemnity insurance.
Our core disciplines are commercial and cost consultancy: quantity surveying and cost management, commercial management, contract administration, procurement and tendering, project controls, risk management, claims and dispute support, project and programme management, and project advisory. We also provide property and building services — building surveys and design, residential and commercial agency and management, and Red Book valuations. Every service is delivered under RICS professional standards, with a scope agreed at the outset.
A valuation assesses what a property is worth on a defined basis — often for lending, sale, tax or accounts. A building survey assesses the construction and condition of a property, identifying defects and maintenance needs. They answer different questions, and a purchase often benefits from both.
A quantity surveyor manages the cost of a project — from an early cost plan and procurement advice, through valuing work in progress and pricing variations, to settling the final account. The aim is cost certainty: keeping the project on budget and protecting your commercial position throughout.
It depends on the age, type and condition of the property. Older, altered or unusual buildings generally warrant a more detailed survey than modern, standard ones. We agree the survey scope with you in advance so you know exactly what will be inspected and reported.
The ‘Red Book’ is RICS’s global valuation standard. Valuations we prepare are carried out in line with it, which gives lenders, owners and other parties confidence that the valuation follows a consistent, recognised professional basis.
We are based in London and act for clients there and across the UK. If you are unsure whether we can help with a particular property or project, just ask.
Fees depend on the service and the scope of the work, and we agree them clearly before starting. Tell us what you need and we will provide a fee proposal with the scope set out, so there are no surprises.
